In February 2023, Merck Animal Health presented a one-hour continuing education webinar for veterinary professionals, “Low Stress Veterinary Care for Horses,” with Dr. Stacie Boswell as the sole presenter. The webinar was RACE-approved for one hour of CE credit, offered free of charge through Merck’s Professional Services Veterinarians continuing-education program, and was subsequently made available for on-demand viewing.
Low Stress Veterinary Care for Horses
Continuing education webinar presented by Stacie G. Boswell, DVM, DACVS-LA — Merck Animal Health, February 2023
The webinar addresses a problem every equine practitioner knows well: patients who experience fear, anxiety, and stress around veterinary care — and the safety risks and diminished quality of care that follow. Drawing on her work as a board-certified large animal surgeon and a collaborative author of the Equine Fear Free® certification program, Stacie covers practical techniques for recognizing stress in equine patients and restructuring handling, procedures, and the clinic experience to reduce it — improving welfare for the horse and safety for the veterinary team.
Continuing education accredited through RACE (the American Association of Veterinary State Boards’ Registry of Approved Continuing Education) counts toward the licensure requirements veterinary professionals must maintain — making this webinar a working professional resource hosted by a national animal-health company.
