WE in the Valley is back. After a successful inaugural weekend in 2025, Gallatin Valley Working Equitation will host two USAWE-licensed shows — WE in the Valley #1 and #2, licenses 26-109 and 26-110 — on September 26–27, 2026 at Saddle Peak Equestrian Center in Belgrade, Montana.
WE in the Valley 2026
Two USAWE-licensed shows, Saddle Peak Equestrian Center, Belgrade, Montana, September 26–27, 2026 — hosted by Gallatin Valley Working Equitation
Working equitation is a discipline built from the field-work traditions of working ranches: a dressage trial, an ease-of-handling course of obstacles ridden for precision, and the same course ridden against the clock. Running the weekend as two licensed competitions gives riders two complete sets of scores toward USAWE year-end standings — the same format that worked well at the 2025 shows. The sport is growing fast in Montana: in July 2026, Gallatin Valley Working Equitation lent course obstacles to help Whitehall put on its first working equitation event, which drew thirty riders from Montana, Utah, and Idaho.
The 2026 shows bring a strong slate of officials. Judging is shared by Kim Roe and Marie Maloney. Roe, a USAWE Registered (“R”) judge from Washington, has been a professional dressage trainer for more than thirty years; she runs Blue Gate Farm in Deming, Washington, and is the editor of The Northwest Horse Source magazine. Maloney, a USAWE Recorded (“r”) judge, owns and operates Capall Stables in Wichita, Kansas; she is a USDF bronze, silver, and gold medalist and a USEF “R” western dressage judge. Beth Lindsay and Mary Duffy serve as technical delegates.
Saddle Peak Equestrian Center, at 3336 Spain Bridge Road in Belgrade, is a professional training facility with a large outdoor arena, an indoor arena, and a heated stall barn — a venue with deep roots in ranch horse and western disciplines, which suits a sport descended from ranch work.
