During her equine internship at North Carolina State University, Dr. Stacie Boswell was the lead author of a teaching case published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA). Chronic progressive lymphedema (CPL) is a progressive swelling disorder of the lower limbs, seen especially in draft breeds, in which impaired lymphatic drainage leads to worsening skin changes over time. This JAVMA case report walks through the presentation, diagnostic reasoning, and pathology of a case, and is written as an educational exercise for practicing veterinarians and students.
